Date: Monthly Trek on Sunday 3rd June, 2018
Time: 8.30am to 1.30pm
Starting at Chingford Plain Car Park this is a lovely circular walk being a very popular recreational retreat and for those wanting to enjoy a day out in the countryside and a good opportunity to have a picnic by Connaught Water, extending 8.11 miles (13.05 km).
Prior to this, the forest was a hunting ground reserved for royals. Queen Elizabeth I used to hunt from the lodge named after her, now the Epping Forest Museum. You might be lucky enough to spot fallow or muntjac deer.
Please do bring your trekking poles (mandatory), gaiters, suitable walking shoes and waterproof clothing as we will be covering natural paths, hills and fields. Also bring some food for a rest stop along the route and at least 1 litre of water. Arrive by 08.15 am for warm up and we will start promptly at 8.30 am.
Participants must be generally in good health and capable of walking unaided over rough terrain.
