Date: Monthly Trek on Sunday 13th May, 2018
Time: 8.00am to 1.00pm
Hello Trekkers, we have something different planned for our next walk and put a spring in your step. We will be walking the “Thames Path”, which is a 128km pathed walk from Thames Barrier to Oxford following the River Thames.
Relax, we won’t be walking 128km but a section of this. Starting at Sloane Square station (District Line on the Underground), we will walk to Chelsea Bridge and cross the river to the South Bank. We will follow the river west and walk past some “Ok Yah” yuppie flats, rowing clubs, marshlands and watch river activity on our way.
Ideal for both beginners and seasoned walkers. Walking shoes or trainers are fine and no need for hiking shoes or poles. The walk is flat on paved and gravel paths. No hills!
We will plan 3 end places, depending on your ability and stamina:
1) Hammersmith – 7.5 miles – 2 hours walk
2) Kew Gardens – 13 miles – 3.5 hours walk
3) Richmond – 14.5 miles – 4.5 hours walk
All end stops are on District line and Richmond also has multiple overground lines.
All ages are welcome but children under 16 MUST be accompanied by an adult. Participants must be generally in good health and capable of walking unaided at a good pace.
Please bring some water and snacks on the way and you could plan a picnic or lunch in Kew or Richmond at the end.
