About Rajvee Punatar

Rajvee has worked in the field of cancer research for over twenty years and is currently a Principal Research Scientist at the world-renowned Francis Crick Institute in London. She studies how our DNA is repaired after being damaged, and how defects in this process can lead to cancer. Within the UK Gujarati community, Rajvee is better known for her unique and distinctive voice as a singer and recording artist specialising in Gujarati folk music. She is also one of the founders and current Chair of the charity Sansaar, which is aimed at young children, and promotes the learning of Gujarati language and culture through fun and music.

To date, Rajvee has recorded six music albums –a lagna geet album, Kankoo Chhaanti, four baal geet albums for Sansaar (Geet Gamat, Ramat Gamat, Masti Maja and Namesteji) and a bhajan & stavan album.

In her talk, Rajvee will describe how her twin passions of science and music have enriched her life, how she has managed to juggle two careers whilst raising a family, and why she is keen to make a difference and leave a legacy for the next generation.
