Late Pankaj Hirji Shah

Beloved Pankaj Hirji Shah

15/2/1952 – 27/4/2021

It is with deep sorrow that we inform you of the sad demise of Mr Pankaj Hirji Shah, who passed away fighting Covid-19 for over a month in hospital.

Pankaj grew up in Nakuru but also spent time in the UK from age of 15 to 21.  On returning to Nakuru, he joined and ran the family business, Spekes Wholesalers for over 30 years.. He returned to UK as one of the principal carer for his son, Nirav to pursue a University education at University of Loughborough and then at University of Nottingham.

Pankaj, with his friendly mannerism, caring nature for others, and an open welcoming house to all made friends with young and old alike. He overcame his own battles of leg ulcers and kidney transplants with an ever smiling, never complaining face. Pankaj, with his green fingers, looked for and found pleasure in simple things in life- abundant nature, his vibrant orchids, anthuriums, hydrangeas, roses, daffodils, healthy herbs and his passion for food and cooking, playing bridge and love of music and singing. All these kept him happy during the lockdown. He lived his life without any regrets.

He will be dearly missed by all and has left a big hole in our family.
