|Profile||Kenyan born, father Late Jethalal Manekchand, mother Gunvantiben Jethalal.
Married to Ella, with 3 children (Jaimin, Arti and Rishi).
My father, Jethalal Manekchand was a devoted stalwart of our Association, representing our Luton Area for a number of years. It was his encouragement that introduced me to community volunteering from an early age.
Educated to degree level, studied quantity surveying and have worked in the construction and residential development sectors, managing the delivery of around 3,200 homes during my career.
Besides work and family, most of my remaining time is devoted to the volunteer sector. I chair a subsidiary of Accord Housing Association, providing sheltered accommodation, care and related services catering for the cultural needs of elderly South East Asian communities.
|Vision for Oshwal Community||My vision for our Community is to ensure that there is sustainable continuity for our Association into the future. We need to be shaping plans and implementing actions to ensure that our future generations continue to enjoy the special community and culture that we have inherited from the visions and aspirations of our founding members. We can do this by being bold and accepting the demographical and social changes that we are facing, and embracing change so that our new generations can look to our Association as the family and culture that they can belong to thrive in.|
